Ethos

Julie has studied Western Herbalism as well as other Herbalism disciplines across the globe for over twenty years. Her studies include both the traditional style – private tutelage under Master Herbalists and she attended Yarmony Mountain Herbal College in Colorado. You can read more about her education and formulating experience here.

Yes, we are a plant to bottle operation. At Leaf People, Julie ethically harvested wild plants and works with organic farmers to procure the pure botanical ingredients. We have decades long relationships with our ingredient providers. All extractions, blending, bottling, packaging and shipping occurs in our private Rocky Mountain lab. Please read more about skincare manufacturing our story here.

Miko is Julie’s companion Pomsky, and is our cutest coworker at Leaf People, aka 100 pounds of sass in 50 pounds of fluff. You can find Miko howling for belly rubs, monitoring snack breaks and relaxing in dreamland next to the Leaf Lab doorway while she waits for Julie (her BFF, soul sister and emotional support human) to finish work and toss a frisbee.

Leaf People is Leaping Bunny certified, among many others. Please visit our certifications page to see them all.

We are here as stewards of the botanical kingdom. Leaf People brings their message and actions to life, connects the heart essence of our soul to the soul of our beautiful Earth through the exposure to unadulterated plant constituents in our beauty-inducing skincare products. Leaf People offers the link to bring the vibrance of the Rocky Mountains into your daily life, rejuvenating your spirit and skin.

Key Ingredients

We proudly avoid using any synthetically manufactured ingredients (including glycols, silicones, benzoates, alcohols, disodium EDTA, fragrances and so on). Plant based nutrients are the most compatible with our bodies and easily absorbed through the skin.

The majority of our products are vegan. The rest are vegetarian because we include local Colorado or manuka honey, propolis or royal jelly in some of them. Each product page will display vegan when applicable, or you can email us for a complete list of our vegan products. Rest assured, we are very thankful for the beautiful nutrients and skin glowing benefits that our fellow pollinators impart to us!

We wish we could grow everything ourselves! There are a few ingredients that we are able to grow at Julie’s home, and some that she wild harvested from our local Rocky Mountain forests. Everything else is responsibly-sourced from small business farmers and USA based specialty organic ingredient vendors.

We start with procuring ingredients as locally as possible. Many botanicals are harvested in Colorado. What we cannot get here, we move beyond to the United States, then the Americas and Europe. Due to climate and cultivation limitations, we responsibly source some ingredients from other parts of the world.
